Niners are in trouble already.......

Nothing going on with the Gigantes so I sauntered over to Ninerland and found their schedule for 2008..........its not in any order but shows who they are going to have to play:

Home: Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, New York Jets

Away: Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins

So they split with the Rams and Cards, they can beat Miami, so that should be at least three wins. After that they may have a chance with three more. Other than that, this is gonna be brutal! Eagles, Pats, Cowboys, Seahawks twice. I'm thinking Alex Smith might wanna keep on keepin on in the hot tub with the rehabing. It'll be interesting to see if the Niners follow Sabes' game plan and trade some more draft picks and bring in some old....er..... ah hell, older players to plug holes. Should be interesting.

How to Roast a Turkey

First I thaw meat on the counter, in a roasting pan if you have one handy. Some governments and industry bigshots hate this, but it works and can be safe. However you prepare the bird, don't wash the bird -- that just spreads dangerous bacteria everywhere -- and wash your damn hands when you're done. And during. There's nothing worse than those celebrity chefs who play with raw product and then touch everything else in the kitchen, including ready-to-eat food, contaminating everything.
Clean up the counter and everywhere to avoid cross-contamination. Bleach it all. Kidding. No I'm not.
Now some might be thinking what the hell I'm talking about and thats okay. Yes, I may have overindulged on my Flexeril but thats besides the point. See, the point is when this turkey is done you can sit back and enjoy. Kind of to take your mind of the rudderless course the Giants seem to have laid out. Of course no news is better news for keeping LinceCain, but it's also obvious news that Happy Pete will be back, and thats okay. Give him a year or two, I'm almost okay with it. His glove will help tighten up that infield, just bat him eighth. They'll have to pitch to him when it comes down to pitching to Feliz or Lowry. lol.

what the hell am I doing????

Apparently Santa and Sabes worked the holidays and come up with this blockbuster of blockblusters. The Giants signed Keiichi Yabu. The right-handed Yabu spent ten seasons with Japan’s Hanshin Tigers, posting an 84-102 record, 3.55 ERA, and 1.25 WHIP in 1589.2 innings of work. Yabu allowed 1554 hits and 436 walks, while striking-out 1003. A solid showing in 2004 (3.02 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) earned him a trip to the United States, where he was inked by the Oakland A’s to a one-year deal. Wow. I'm stunned. On the other hand I want to let you all know I embrace this signing. I welcome Yabu to the Giants. This was a brilliant signing. No thats not sarcasm but genuine glee. See, I figure B.S. is gonna be looking for feedback and with a little positive reaction, will negate Sabes' feeling of acting in an irrational manner. No, I won't force Sabes to make a move, call a press conference, demand a recount on whether or not he is "an idiot." No, I say we don't need to go down that road again. Lets count our blessings and move forward, after all, as far as I know, our old friend Armando Blownitez is still out there looking for a place to hang is hat, and you know Sabes will pull that trigger! So I say who knows, maybe this guy will turn out to be our answer. Maybe he'll get to see some action. He might not turn our to be the closer we need, but if he can come in and..........what the hell am I talking about!? Yes this guy sucks. Who am I kidding? Action? This guy can't get any action even if he got locked in a phermone plant with Jamie Lynn and Britney and he was covered with Milk Duds. Speaking of Jamie Lynn, what do you think Tom Brady is thinking right about now? Back to the topic. Yabu. I guess it could nav been worse right? Right? Ah, what the hell.

Is it me or is this a short winter?

Maybe its me but does it seem like baseball season just ended? As in ended last week?

First time blogger.....wtf?

A little about me. I have to admit, there is not much to look forward to for the coming season. All my attempts to discuss the new season are usually met with a few spicy verbs and adjectives followed by tugs of caps, kicking of dirt and so on. It's hard to talk in positive terms about the Giants these days either because of the feeling of hopelessness that many fans feel or because of.....well, how do I say this......the crappy off season moves the Giants have or haven't made this offseason. Having said that, I don't know that there was anyone out there worth getting in return for any part of LinceCain. Which brings up the biggest question I've had all off season. Is Noah Lowry that bad? Now that the "big name" free agents have been signed and a few trades have been made, I was left wondering why Lowry is still not gettin any sniffs. I've heard the arguments of how he's on the downside, he's frail, whatever. Lowry still won 14 games on a Giants team that couldn't score even if it was locked in a room with .......ah hell, its to early in the blog for bad Britney Spears jokes. This coming year does remind me of one joke though. Oldie but moldie:

A very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into Wal-Mart with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance.
The Wal-Mart Greeter said pleasantly ‘Good morning, and welcome to Wal-Mart. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?’
The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, ‘Hell no they ain’t. The oldest one’s 9 and the other one’s 7. Why the hell would you think they’re twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?’
‘I’m neither blind nor stupid, Ma’am,’ replied the greeter. ‘I just couldn’t believe you scored twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart

That'll sum up our offense this year I believe. Let's just get the inevitable over with. You know it. I know it. Sabean knows it, he's just waiting for the right time. The right time to announce that Pedro Feliz is signed for 5 years for 75mil. You read it hear first. And to be fair, what other choices are out there? Keep LinceCain. Keep Lowry. Keep Sanchez. Hell, with the lack of depth the Giants have I'm tempted to say sign Ortiz again. This year is a throw away year. The moment the Giants uttered those words, "youthful, younger" and so on, you knew it and I knew it. 2008 will be over just as it begins. Of course Sabes has to make it to the opening day without being Brian Sabean. Trading Cain, Lincecum and Frank Gore for Ruben Sierra. You know he's in a cold sweat right now as we blog. Kenny Lofton and Reggie Saunders are still available and the Giants still obviously need more candidates for that 5th spot on the depth chart for centerfield. Not to change the subject but my wife once tried to detoxify herself to lose weight. She took some kind of powder from GNC, it may or may not have been flax seed oil. Anyhoo, whatever was buried deep in the bowels was released and she had an opportunity to eat healthy and stay trim. The Giants I feel must do the same and flush their bowels. Of course she put the weight back on four months later but thats besides the point. The Gigantes can use this opportunity to start fresh. Bring up everyone from Velez, Sanchez, Timpner, Denker, hell, whoever shows up at Scottsdale. Anyone know where Lance Niekro is these days? ..........who am I kidding. It'll be interesting to watch spring training this year. When the Giants set up the pitching maching it might record the first no-hitter of the season.
