Well, if the Giants are going to win any games it will have to be the way they won last night against the Pads. Little to no hitting and great pitching. This, I know, will take some getting used to for us long time Giant fans who became accustomed to the old outscore 'em mentality the Giants had for decades. That enable the Gigantes to bring in a Rick Reuschel or Don Robinson, a Orel Hersishiwhatever, even an El Duque. Pitchers who were up in age and still okay but who's mistakes could be covered by Giants bats. As long as I can remember the Giants have always had a couple of big bats in the lineup and I began following the team when old Jack Clark was the big bat. So this incarnation of Giants baseball is foreign. Great pitching as a strategy. It sound funny doesn't it? After all with a #2-#3 punch of Cain and Lincecum, are there better 2 and 3 men in the league? Yea, I know, but forget about Zito for a moment. Last nights game sent me to bed with a smile on my face and dammit, I'll admit it. I still have hope. Also, Dave Robers has been diagnosed with condromalatia. I don't know how he got it but I assume there is a topical cream to put on it. Most sailors I hear get it in the Philipines. In any case this means more playing time for Fred Lewis and my man Dan. So we are left with Durham and Aurilia as the gray bushers left. Durham I'm still hoping will catch fire so we can trade him and I think I'm content to hang on to Aurilia. I like Rich. I'm also glad to see Mr. Sabean practicing some restraint amidst all the hullabaloo regarding Helms or Dan Johnson or whatever his name is. I don't mind the team signing them after they get released but Brian Sabean is showing his restraint by holding on to the pitchers and I think he deserves a Giant hug. He might not be a total idiot after all. Noah Lowry is due back so it seems this team is waiting to see how things shake out. This might be the "Vicodin bottle is half full" in me coming out but I think the Giants have a run in them. Exactly how far that run gets them is the question. For that kind of optimism would require both vicodin and xanax. But I have at least forgotten about my calls of signing Billy Crystal or Chuck Norris for third base. Although I think Chuck would make an outstanding third base coach. He'd be a good motivator for the Giants. After all, its a fact there is no chin under Chucks beard, only another fist. Whatever, I'm just stoked the Giants are in the midst of a 2 game win streak and the Detroit Tigers are still around to take the baseball eyes of the Giants.
