Zito goes down....

Okay. This is not a good idea. Does anyone else see the train wreck coming? The Giants being the offensive jugger-NOT that they are will be clinging to a 1 or 2 or even 4 run lead. SanchLinceCain will be starting to tire in the 6th or 7th. Bochy comes out to the mound, adjusts his cap, spits a wad then glances over toward the right field fence and points to his left hand. Thats summons number 75. Siete Ocho himself. Do I need to complete this train of thought? How ridiculous is this going to be? Barry Zito is going to pick up where Armando Benitez left off and the Giant brass will trot out their standard phrases of how Barry's about to turn it around or whatever. As long as we are demoting him, why not just keep demoting him and send him down to double A? I know, the contract has alot to do with this but let this be the lesson learned. I can't stomach watching this guy pitch and I like Barry Zito. He was a good pitcher but c'mon. Reliever???? Send him to Seattle. I don't know. Can't he be a "player to be named later" when we ship Dave Roberts to wherever the hell we send him? Remember this spring when the Gigantes were about to sign Byun Hyun Kim? Looking back now that would've been the smart thing to do as long as we let Zito go tweak on his own time. In a season of mild surprises, this is turning an otherwise mildly optimistic season into a real drag. Now, Zito for his part says he made his bed and needs to lay in it but as far as I'm concerned he needs to take some time off. A long time off. This is another example of the Giants and their previous modus operandi. Sign aging veterans and hope for the best. This new Giants incarnation is about the infusion of young blood and the future. Barry Zito is a reminder of a disappointing past.
