Around third place team....

Well, I've been absent of the blogospere for a while. In all actuality I've been pretty bored. The Giants are just playing okay, not good enough to make a real run and not bad enough to drop to the cellar. In fact, Brian Sabean sums it up best with a pretty recent statement:

"As long as we've got a chance to stay in and around third place, why not?" Sabean said as he stood along the dugout rail and watched his players take batting practice. "Why wouldn't you want to think that way? These guys think that way"

"You're seven games under .500. That's where you don't want to be, but I really feel good about the energy around the club and I feel good about some of our choices. We've now got a solution at first base. We've got a solution at third. We've gotten Omar (Vizquel) back. Freddie Lewis has come into his own and (Emmanuel) Burriss has been a real factor lately.

"I don't think we're going to lose as many games as we did last year. If anything, we're going to be a second-half team."

So there you go. I suppose I should feel good the Giants are contending for third place but I don't. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year dammit. Sure I love watching the Giants stay competitive but what will a third place finish get this team? I say, if your gonna lose, lose. If your gonna win, win. I've had enough of the Giants "staying competitive" only to either miss the playoffs or get run in the first series. At least get some high draft picks! ITS TIME TO TRADE DAVE ROBERTS. TRADE AURILIA. TRADE DURHAM. Omar I'd like to keep around. Bengie too. Other than that, trade, trade, trade. Get a prospect. Get a Chron subscription. Get a autographed Shania Twain pic. I don't care just get something! Peter Magowan recognized a new era is upon us, why can't you to Sabes. Try something new! I was all prepared to watch some losing! Look at the Rockies. One year contenders....I'm losing my train of thought and going all over the place. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that statement. crap. Hopefully Sabes is running some kind of psychological warfare......who am I kidding.
